  • What is Semaglutide (GLP-1)?
GLP-1 drugs activate GLP-1 receptors in the pancreas, enhancing insulin secretion and reducing the release of glucagon. This reaction leads to glucose homeostasis, which triggers your body to burn fat for energy.
  • Is Semaglutide (GLP-1) approved for weight loss?
Yes, Semaglutide is a FDA approved subcutaneous semaglutide for long-term weight management and has been clinically proven to sustain weight loss.
  • Are there side effects associated with Semaglutide (GLP-1)?
Nausea is the most common side effect of Semaglutide. Additional side effects include headaches, abdominal pain and constipation. In an effort to reduce side effects, our doctors start everyone off at a low dose and increase the dosage as needed.
  • How does the medication work?
Semaglutide helps to balance out hormone levels, and in doing so helps to regulate sugar levels and curb appetite. When used in conjunction with lifestyle changes, the medicine helps patients adhere to a reduced-calorie diet and lose weight. Additionally, studies show that semaglutide lowers the risk of cardiovascular disease (heart attack or stroke) and can improve mental health.
